Application Process Checklist

  • Personal Essay
  • Request ACT and SAT scores sent to the school of your choice
  • Request a high school transcript sent to the school of your choice
  • Recommendations from teachers and employers (if necessary)
  • Application form and fee
    • Note: Most schools have an online application that waives application fees
    • When applying online, print out your verification letter.
    • Write out all of your information, especially your personal essay, before filling out the online application
Other options that may better your admission files to universities
  • Extracurricular activities (involvement in clubs, sport teams or volunteering projects)
  • Personal essay
    • If help is need in writing the essay, it is recommended to ask a teacher or a counselor for help.
    • The essay is to display a prospective college student's writing ability.
  • personal interview with a college admission counselor (requirement for some schools)
