Generally, students take the ACT and SAT during their junior year. These standardized tests are a big factor to colleges when considering your admission, so don't ignore it! Visit the following websites to gain a deeper sense of what the ACT and SAT entail. It's never too early to start preparing!

Preparation for ACT/SAT

  • Attend a preparation course to taking ACT/SAT
  • Online preparation is available for ACT
  • Practice the practice exams found in your local library.
  • Need to start preparing at the end of your sophomore year
  • Latest to take ACT is during the first semester of you senior year.
  • Taking SAT is recommended if applying out of state
  • Not that many Illinois colleges/universities look at the SAT scores.
Required scores for admission at the university
  • ACT: 19 or better
  • SAT: 950 or better
I would try not to just aim at the minimal score, aim for the better score!
